Nikiforos Lytras (Greek Modern Νικηφόρος Λύτρας), born in 1832 in Tinos in the Cyclades and died in 1904, is a Greek painter.
After studying at the School of Art in Athens, he won a scholarship in 1860 to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. At the end of his studies, he taught at the School of Art in Athens. He held this position throughout his life. In the summer of 1873, he traveled to Asia Minor with his friend Gysis Nikolaos.
It remains advocate of academic painting he had learned in Munich, with an interest in ethnographic themes and portraits
