Edward Henry Potthast (1857-1927) was an American impressionist painter.
He is known for his paintings located in CentralPark, and his scenes of beaches near New York and in the new amgleterre. entre1879 and 1881, he studied with Thomas Satterwhite Noble. He then studied at the Royal Academy in Munich, with the American founder Carl Marr. After returning to Cincinnati in 1885, he resumed his studies with Noble. In 1886 he moved to Paris, where he studied with Fernand Cormon. In 1895 he returned to New York and remained there until his death in 1927.
